TARANTELLA – New play with score by Benjamin Ellin

Tarantella | New York, 1941.

Three generations of a Sicilian immigrant family live together in a crowded tenement apartment. They work hard to build the family business and on feast days they sing and dance. All bodes well for a brighter future.

But as the younger generation become part of the culture they are born into, the older generation resist by holding on to the past and inevitably cracks start to appear. And when the local mafia come knocking on the door, the cracks deepen…


Set against the backdrop of World War II, Tarantella is a full-length drama that explores the power of the family and the ties of community versus the quest for individual happiness. Presented by Tenth Muse Productions and featuring an international cast with original folk music interwoven with contemporary big band hits by Glen Miller.
